Down time... Sorry

Sorry to all you listeners out there but there will be some unexpected down time as we repair our servers. This means that our website and anything hosted on our servers won’t be accessible today. For those that are curious our server is hosted in New Mexico, even though we are located here in New York. This server is very old and only has one single core processor which led to several people having connection issues. But because we love you so much we splurged to get 2 quad cores from Intel.

We are also adding an option to our website that allows you to post your home made mixes on our website. This means we are now upgrading the hard drives on our server. We are going from 1 terabytes to 3 terabytes. So now users can download your mixes, vote, and discuss them all from our website. Don’t be afraid to download the mix tapes and put them on your iPods.

And last but not least… thank you all who tuned in to listen to our 8-bit weekend. It was a rousing success. I hope those who were freshly exposed to this style of music found it enjoyable and for those that didn’t… well go play more video games. Keep in touch because more information will be brought to light on this DJ battle.

Special guest!

Well now that we have gotten into the swing of things here at Radio 19.5 where we listen to your requests. We have gotten several requests for a specific type of music. So this week we are going to bring out a treat for you! We are kicking it old school and bringing it back to your home made synthesizers. Yes that’s right all day Saturday we will be playing 8-bit music.

For those who don’t know 8-bit “chiptune” music came about because sound chips initially had “simple tone and noise generators with few channels.” This put a cap on the complexity of the sounds and how many notes could be played. 8-bit music really made it big with the explosion of the video game industry in the 80’s and 90’s.

I know everyone is excited about this coming Saturday but we here at Radio 19.5 really know why you all read our blog. You want the deets’ on up and coming events then don’t forget to check out our twitter blog. For those who have then you would know about all our up and coming events like our DJ battle to the death… LIVE! Yes that is right get your gear and come down to the studio to mix until you bleed. Just kidding. But really next month we will be having a Battle on air. Keep tuned to Radio 19.5 for all your DnB needs.

News News News!

Back again with updates on radio 19.5. This week we are just breaking into the swing of things. I know several of you out there hate when commercials come on and ruin the mood which is why I am here to bring good news. Commercial Free Weekdays. That’s right no commercials any time during the week. Those of you who were following us on twitter would already have known this so if you aren’t following Radio 19.5 you should. It’s the only way to get the inside scoop on what we are planning to do.

Now in order to kick off this program we need to ask all of you DnB lovers to show your support for Radio 19.5. As we are in the midst of launching our new website so that you may listen to Radio 19.5 while at work or when ever you’re hanging out at home we ask you to go to Paypal and donate to keep commercials off the air for the weekdays. Paypal is a quick and easy way to donate to the cause.

Something that has been in the works and I can only let you guys in on the raw details at the moment but I can tell you all that everyone will love it. It involves you, your skills, and of course your favorite radio station 19.5. Think you can guess what we are going to do for you? If so post it in the comments and if you’re right then a special prize is ensured. But for now just keep in touch and up to date with all Radio 19.5 information. Nothing Good to Listen to?

Today, as I was driving downtown in my beat up black '04 Hyundi Accent. A perfect car if all you are looking to do is get from point A to B without having to take out a second mortgage to pay for the car/gas/up keep. I had the windows rolled down and the music was blasting. Now since it is a fairly old car I have no way to hook my iPod in without some extensive knowledge of electronics or paying an outrageous fee to a mechanic because as we all know I'm no genius and I am cheep. So like everyone I am forced to listen to the radio. This isn't something that I mind but I would rather listen to music I prefer like Drum and Bass (DnB) , House, Techno, and Trance over the new Black Eyed Pea's or Miley Cyrus album. (Not that there is anything wrong with the Black Eyed Pea's.) As we all know most major hip hop and R&B artists just slow their beats down from DnB, House, Techno, and Trance songs.
For all of you out there who are in the same boat or car as I am listen up!
There is a new radio station, the first of its kind, starting up here in the states where we can listen to DnB, House, Techno, and Trance all day all the time. Commercial free, listen free, and as always Enjoyment is... that's right you guessed it... The cost of a radio. This will be the first radio station of its kind to hit the states. DnB is huge across the world and no one knows why it isn't big here in the US. From The Drum and Bass Show with Fabio and Grooverider in the UK on BBC Radio 1 to DJ Hype on Kiss 100 in London Radio 195 is going to be just as big. No more Z100's same 30 songs every hour or head talk radio on NPR. The underground DnB listeners will finally be able to enjoy their music above ground and others will be able to listen in to check out the truly best music of our generation.
As you drive around town spin that dial all the way down to 19.5 FM to hear your favorite bass lines being dropped. Make sure that your subs are on and bass is maxed out because you are about to make heads turn as you cruse down the street with the latest and best music genre coming out of your speakers.
